Reporting to the President and Chief Executive Officer, the Vice President of Philanthropy will advance the mission of Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts by fostering a culture of philanthropy and strategically guiding all aspects of fundraising. The Vice President will shape and implement both short- and long-term fundraising strategies, including an annual advancement plan that supports institutional goals and strengthens contributed revenue. The VP will lead a talented philanthropy team, oversee major gift cultivation, and manage a personal portfolio of high-value donors and prospects. The Vice President will execute signature events such as the annual gala, coordinate special campaigns, and establish systems to monitor and evaluate the success of all philanthropic efforts. With a focus on stewardship, prospect development, and operational excellence, the Vice President will be instrumental in building the resources necessary to sustain and grow Caramoor's programs and impact. Recognized for its rich and storied history, the Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts is a leading cultural center in the New York metropolitan region and is known as a "year-round powerhouse of cultural activity" (BBC Music Magazine). True to the vision of its founders, Walter and Lucie Rosen, Caramoor is a place where visitors can be refreshed and renewed by the convergence of an exciting mix of exceptional and diverse live music performances, the beauty of an art-filled historic home, and spectacular gardens and grounds. Located on an 80-acre campus in Katonah, New York, Caramoor annually presents more than 60 live performances, featuring a wide range of genres. Caramoor's mission is to enrich the lives of audiences through innovative and diverse musical performances of the highest quality, mentor young professional musicians, and engage children through interactive educational experiences that deepen their relationship to and understanding of music. These three fundamentals music performance, musician mentoring, and music education infuse all aspects of Caramoor's work. Caramoor had more than 33,000 visitors in 2025 who attended concerts and enjoyed the grounds. In addition, more than 9,000 people used the campus through facility rentals, special events, and administrative functions. The audience is primarily located in the tri-state area, with 52% of its visitors from Westchester County, 16% from Fairfield County, and 15% from New York City. Over the last several years, audiences were thrilled by live performances by, for example, Audra Mc Donald, Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, the Orchestra of St. Luke's, Rhiannon Giddens, Samara Joy, Bonny Light Horseman, Hlne Grimaud, Alisa Weilerstein, Julie Benko, Mary Chapin Carpenter, The Knights, Allison Russell, Yo-Yo Ma, Sutton Foster, and Ccile Mc Lorin Salvant. Caramoor's All Day Jazz and American Roots festivals are perennial favorites as well. Caramoor works hard to expand the canon of its music repertoire heard by its audiences. By including a broad range of artists, and co-curating culturally meaningful and relevant programming with local communities, Caramoor works to ensure that all audiences are welcomed, and that all parties can hear themselves in the music and many see themselves reflected from the stage. To further these efforts, in recent years, Caramoor has featured concerts by artists of color, and presents important but underperformed works by American composers. A bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least ten years of fundraising experience, ideally in an arts setting, is preferred for this role. The Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts will consider candidates with a broad range of backgrounds. If you are excited about this role and feel that you can contribute to Caramoor, but your experience does not exactly align with every qualification listed above, we encourage you to apply.
