The City of Jamestown is accepting applications for the position of Water Plant Operator I. This position involves assisting in the basic operation and maintenance of the water treatment plant to include monitoring and testing chemical feed rates of treated water. Some knowledge of basic chemistry and mathematics is desirable. Applicants must have the ability to learn the operation of motors, pumps, meters, electrical systems and related equipment in the water plant. Applicants must have a High School Diploma or GED and must hold a valid North Dakota drivers license. The successful applicant must be able to obtain a Class I Plant Operator Certification from the North Dakota State Health Department within two (2) years of employment. The Water Plant operates on a shift basis, consisting of a 40-hour work week with such overtime as is required. Shifts are assigned based on longevity. The Plant Operator will be placed on the late afternoon and evening shift after training. In addition, there will be some 11: 00 P.M. to 7: 00 A.M. shifts. The salary range for this position is $4,009 - $6,055, depending on experience. Full announcement may be found on the City of Jamestown website.
